2011 NFL Draft: Atlanta Falcons Boost Defensive Line with DE Ryan Kerrigan

Ryan Kerrigan led the NCAA in tackles for losses last season, but does not have the athleticism of the defensive lineman picked ahead of him, thus he finds himself landing with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons will be looking to improve their defense with this pick and would probably like to see Jimmy Smith fall to them, as their secondary struggled at times last year, especially against the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs.

However, Ryan Kerrigan presents too much value to be able to pass up at this point in the first round.  Kerrigan plays with solid technique and gives 100 percent on every play, something that cannot be taught.

If the Falcons prefer to upgrade their secondary they will likely take a long look at Miami (FL) CB Brandon Harris.
